MECHANICAL REQUIREMENTS

All files should be sent PSD formatted. All high resolution scans, fonts and a Quark document of the artwork should be sent with a high resolution PDF. Applications and formats must be indicated. Files should not be RGB nor contain Spot Colors nor have a resolution of 72 dpi. Images at 72 dpi are low resolution and will print poorly. We strongly suggest files to be at least 300 dpi.

Strip-in production is free of charge when information is given to Glass Manacle Records before deadline. Updated BDS information may be added to artwork before 1pm EST on the day of printing. If printing plant overtime is incurred due to late-strip in ads, accounts will be charged $750.

CANCELLATIONS: Advertisers will be charged for advertising space cancelled after the Tuesday prior to print date.

FLASH ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS

Below is a list of everything required for a Flash ad.

• Must be made in or saved down to Version 7 or lower.
• .SWF file and live .FLA file
• Maximum file size is 30k.
• Copies of fonts used in the .FLA file
• Back-up gif
• The background color of the ad
• The version of flash that a user must have in order to see the flash ad
• An indictation that the clickTag method had been used
• The Flash frame rate must be less than 18 frames per second; twelve frames is prefered.
• Invisible buttons must be placed on the top most layer of the file. Buttons placed on layers below the invisible buttons will not respond to mouse. No buttons should overlap.
• Make sure there are no spaces in the name of the file.
• Flash files should follow the standard IAB file size limitations of: 30K for 160x600, 180x150 and 468x60.
• If you want your Flash ad to link to a URL, please do so before sending it.

How To Link Your Flash Ad to a URL

1. Create ad
2. Create blank button with nothing on the up, over, down. On the hit behavior draw a box without a stroke the entire size of the banner ad (or even larger, it doesn’t matter)
3. Go back to the current scene and drag that button onto the work area. It should show up as a big blue square.
4. On a PC, click the button and go to your actions tab. Left click on the actions tab. The object actions box then appears.
5. Under the basic actions, click on the “Get URL” action. These words should appear on the right side:

6. At the bottom where you would normally put in your click thru URL this:

If you include a click-thru in the flash file at this step, you will need to code it to look like: http://www.yourUrl.com. This follows the clicktag command shown in Example 1. If you will be using different urls in the same flash or plan to change url frequently use Example 2.
Example 1: With URL in flash file button.

Example 2: Without URL in flash file button. To be used if you have multiple URL’S for same flash or multiple changing URL’S though out the campaign. Note: you must complete the process to step 8 before publishing flash file.

7. Click the expression check box to the right of that field. This will only be shown in Flash MX or earlier Versions.
Note: If you are using Flash MX 2004 you will not have this check box since everything is done in expert mode.
8. In the field immediately below where it says window to the left, drag down the target so that it says _blank
It should now look like this:
Example: With URL in flash file button & (add target):

9. Export your .swf file as usual.
10. Warning: if you do not use this method, your will not click to a URL link.
11. When using clicktag you must write (all lower case) or it will not work properly.

Create a square "Button" symbol that is larger than the viewable area (be sure layer frames are the full length of the movie). Set this "Button" symbol's Alpha to "0" (zero), this will make the button invisible.
On the stage, select the "Button" symbol and add "On mouse event" from the Basic Actions, then add "Get URL".
Enter the variable name "clickTag" and check the expression box. The actual URL will be entered in CheckM8.
For variables field, select "don't send"
File must be compatible with Internet Explorer 5.x, 6.x, and Netscape 4.7, 5.x, 6.x
Finalized .SWF file must be received with alternate GIF or JPG file with click-thru URL
Ads must be published to display in Flash 5 or above

Audio Specifications (case by case basis)
Audio must be user initiated on mouse click
Ad must have a noticeable mute button
Maximum file size for entire ad is 30K

Ad Creative Submission
